England's captain Andrew Strauss says : "This is a special moment for all of us. The players have had to dig pretty deep, it's been a very hard series." "When we were bad, we were very bad, and when we were good we managed to be good enough." "Freddie's been an incredible player for England, a great advert for the game of cricket and it just won't be the same without him."
Australia's captain Ricky Ponting says: "We've given our all through the series but unfortunately it hasn't been good enough. Full credit to Andrew Strauss, he's led his side well through the series." "There's been countless opportunities for us throughout the series to put our stamp on the series and we haven't been able to do it."
